LG isn’t in the same place it was before when it comes to the smartphone market. With recent launches that weren’t so well received the company decided to keep a low profile. However, a new leak came today to show that despite the recent issues the company is still developing smartphones not only for the premium segment but also for the budget scene. A new LG Stylo 5 seems to be in the works, although LG is very busy with the 5G race.

These leaked renders clearly originate from a case manufacturer, so don’t take them to build your final impression about the handset design, after all some details could be a little off. Of course, worth noting that what we can already see in these renders is a device that seems very similar to its alleged predecessor – LG Stylo 4 – as well as its Q Stylus sibling. Of course, there are some obvious changes made to the overall design and camera module.

Despite the leaked renders, the specs of LG Stylo 5 are still nowhere to be seen. However, we don’t think that this device will give a step further from the mid-range territory, and when it comes to LG, the company still ship midrange devices that are really half baked in comparison with other devices from nowadays. It still ships with a single camera setup on the back, pretty wide bezels around a standard notchless display.

Other notable traits of the Stylo 5 include a USB Type C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack – We can’t see a reason why this device would lack the legacy analog audio jack, but since its presence is becoming rare nowadays it worths a mention. Worth noting that Stylo 5 moniker was recently spotted in a listing on the Global certification forum website, further indicating that the launch of this device is imminent.

Based on everything that we have today in the midrange smartphone segment, it’s hard to say if the LG Stylo 5 will be compelling enough to help LG to reintroduce itself in customers’ hearts. Samsung already learned a lesson with some Chinese companies, and its reinvented midrange line of devices (A-series and M-series) is performing quite good in the market. If LG wants to succeed once again, it should adopt the same strategy of its South-Korean fellow.
